Why is it...

Why is it that people say one thing but mean another? I'm not talking about normal run of the mill people that you meet and interact with. That's a given. No, I'm talking about people that you've become friends with either at work or not. People with which you've grown to a point that you can confide in them, know them and understand one another with just the briefest of statements. Talking about friends.

It's amazing the number and degrees involved in the "friendship" circles. Close friends, best friends, friends, friends friends and more... it's dizzying and can get confusing. I may be at a disadvantage in this game of friendship as I tend to not make friends, (well close friends - see what I mean?) very easily. I have no problem with work friends, acquaintance friends, friends, friends friends, etc. It seems to be the close friends and best friends areas that tend to mess me up.

Maybe it's just me, maybe I'm the one with the twisted sensibilities and uncommon levels of what, dunno. See to me, I'm normal. I know, right?! Well, that's to be expected. It's just the way it is, we all see normal as a reflection of ourselves. I can even recognize that and in most cases don't have a problem with it. It's just when a friend moves from the good friend alignment to the close or best friend alignment that it becomes an issue.

BTW, how does that happen? It's a mutual thing right? I mean you can't just move someone from one alignment to another without their consent can you? I guess you could, but then they really wouldn't know, would they? And with that in mind, do they need to be told, or is it just an understood kind of thing? lol

So what was I saying? Oh yeah, why do people say one thing and mean another? Is it a using type thing? Do best friends and close friends do this normally? Or is it reserved for the "other" alignments of friends? (shrug) Dunno... I always like people to know where I stand, so I tend to tell them and even with all the different levels of friends, I am more of a 'this is the way it is' kind of person. So, yeah, maybe it is me. Again, Dunno...

Ok so...

Well when we last talked it looks like I had just started at Starbucks and was oh so happy to get started as a barista! Looks easy right? Wrong!! Omg I had no idea, none what so ever how difficult it is to do what the partners at Starbucks make look so easy! The recipes, the drink codes, the language, the sequence, the modifiers... lol and then after learning the "main drinks" trying to memorize the regulars drinks AND names AND their alternate drinks... I told Fran that this was "the toughest job I never knew I would love!" Seriously, I freakin LOVE this job!!

Fast forward a couple months and I'm promoted to Shift Supervisor. OMG another whole set of things that I had to memorize and perform, and help new baristas' learn and oversee the shift and run the store basically when the manager isn't there. Whew!! Tough, but again fun as all get out! I fell in love all over again. And my manager, omg, you couldn't ask for a better person to work with or for. She inspires you to excel and helps you do it, if you want it. I would have done any task for her and did without hesitation. I still would even now. Oh that's right, I didn't fast forward again...

Fast forward a year plus a little and I'm being promoted again. But not to Assistant Store Manager like I thought my next step would be, but directly into RMT for a position as Store Manager if I pass the training. Wow, again, another geometric progression in the amount of knowledge, skills and tasks that need to be monitored, coached, taught, guided and completed. OMG! lol It just keeps getting better and better. I'm a couple weeks into my accelerated training program and I'm not only loving it, I'm growing, learning and embracing it with arms wide. I am sure that I'll be able to do the job when I'm finished with the training.

No more fast forwards at this point. That's where I am and that's what I'm doing. This was a goal I set for myself when I was 3 months or so into the job and I've almost attained it. I'm happy and proud to have gotten this far this quickly. Now onto the other goals I set and to help some others set some goals as well.

Out for now.

More work... (I've been told I'm a LOT of WORK!!) LOL

So yeah, got the job at Starbucks!! Yea! Now I'm an official Starbuckington! lol Now if they just give me the super secret employee discount code! LMAO I start training soon, so that's cool, I'm so looking forward to it... and yes Karen, I acknowledge you getting there first! lol Oh hey, you can give me pointers right?!

Not much going on other than "emergency tub leak" repairs at Christy's and trying to figure out how to help out a friend with a refrigerator issue. (grin) Just everyday stuff, you know.

Ordering parts for Harley and getting REAL antsy about getting her out on the road for some serious therapy! lol

K, gotta run - yes again...
